On October 15, 2025, a working group from PR PASS Workshop began its tour of communities in Ceiba to introduce a new project that aims to foster a support network for regional economic development. During their visits, PR PASS Workshop will be inviting entrepreneurs, leaders of for-profit and non-profit organizations, community-based or faith-based organizations, and community leaders to join the support network by completing a registration form at which initiates the process of actively listening to local needs and interests.
The project led by the Institute for Building, Technology and Safety (IBTS) is made possible by a grant from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA Rural) for Rural Community Development Initiatives in Puerto Rico.
PROGRAM PURPOSE
The project designed by IBTS promotes tools and alternatives for smart economic development (SED) in the municipality of Ceiba and surrounding areas, through an inclusive methodology that encourages the participation of different people and entities (public, private, community, and third sector).
PR PASS WORKSHOP's CONTRIBUTION TO THE PROJECT
Building on past successful collaborations with IBTS, both nonprofit organizations are resuming their teamwork to expedite the participation of more sectors and communities in activities supporting the region's economic development. The activities envisioned on the agenda include workshops to discuss strengths, challenges, and opportunities in the region; workshops to share solutions and growth opportunities; training workshops; and multi-sector networking events. PR PASS Workshop is committed to ensuring that each activity has strong multi-sector participation and broad community reach.
